- W2005410003 abstract "Abstract The objective of this study is to compare the tribological characteristic at macro- and nano-scale between the hydrogels based on hydroxylethyl methacrylate (HEMA) in articular cartilage. This study shows that the mechanical and tribological properties are similar at the nano- and macro-scale, irrespective of whether the surface roughness is small (a few tens of nm – peak-to-peak roughness atomic force microscope). HEMA hydrogel with 5% acrylic acid (AA) has the mechanical and tribological properties similar to articular cartilage. Therefore, the HEMA 5% AA hydrogel could be used as cartilage replacement in the treatment of joint diseases. Keywords: articular cartilagehydrogelsp(HEMA)tribologynano- and macro-characterisation Notes This abstract is affiliated with the Société de Biomécanique." @default.
