A comparison between the experimental results and the effective-mass-approximation calculations has shown the important role played by the hydrostatic pressure that the glass matrix exerts on semiconductor microcrystallites. Also the contribution of valence-band splitting has been considered to interpret some features of the experimental spectra." @default.
