- W200568930 abstract "A mutant human plasma protein was endogenously labeled using a stable isotopically-labeled amino acid tracer (13C6 phenylalanine) and its in vivo metabolism investigated. This study was performed in a heterozygote for a mutant A-I apolipoprotein (GIy26 → Arg) associated with amyloidosis and hypoalphalipoproteinemia. This approach permits the simultaneous comparison of the normal and mutant protein in the same study subject. The mutant protein was catabolized more than twice as fast as the normal protein with normal production rate. This report describes a new and convenient method for the investigation of the in vivo metabolism of mutant proteins in man. A heterozygote is the ideal study subject since it permits the simultaneous comparison of the normal and mutant forms of the same protein." @default.
