Firstly, the absorption cross-section of HC3N between 240 and 188 nm has been measured. Secondly, the heat of formation of the C3N radical has been experimentally determined to be 629 ± 17 kJ mol−1. This implies a dissociation threshold of 244 ± 8 nm for HC3N. Finally, the quantum yield for the process at 193 nm is found to be about 0.05. These three experiments point to as the major process in the UV photolysis of cyanoacetylene." @default.
