Chem., 56 (1984) 2744) In the presence of ion molecule collisions, the various (positive-frequency) ICR mass spectral peaks can be shifted up to several ppm by mutual overlap with other (positive-frequency) peaks. In this paper, we show that the negative-frequency peaks inherent in linearly polarized ICR signals can also shift the observed positive-frequency peaks by up to several ppm at m/z > 1000. We further show that the extended mass calibration relation, in which the new parameter, C, is related to the ion molecule collision frequency, exactly corrects for the negative-frequency shifts, and appears to improve mass calibration accuracy in experimental FT/ICR mass spectra." @default.
