According to 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, 3D magnetic ordering appears at 15.5 K. Iron, being in the Fe3+ high spin “S state”, is expected to reflect the orientations of the copper moments: copper ions are found to be both crystallographically and magnetically equivalent; their moments make an angle ∼ 40° with the c axis (7.13 Å) of Chattopadhyay et al. and an angle ∼ 20° with the basis of the oxygen pyramid which surrounds each of them. The low transition temperature originates from the very long superexchange paths CuOOCu. Possible low dimensional character of the transition is examined." @default.
