- W2007249367 abstract "Backgroud. Cardiovascular risk factors have been assessed together with common complications of HD patients as a result of malnutrition. Concerning this issue wide literature did'nt make clear what should be the predictor parameters related to a single nutritional status optimization. Methods. 190 patients examined since 1986: 114 males and 76 females, mean age of 56y+-15 and 65+-14.71 males and 29 females alives, 43 males and 47 females deceased. Bioelectrical impedance was performed for every single patient before and after HD session; blood and nutritional parameters monitored quarterly. Additive regression covariate estimation on survival analysis and uni-multivariate regression was applied over the collected data. The outcome is given by the dead/alive datum for male and female. Results. Table 1 shows significant differences of Resistance (Rz) and Phase Angle (PhA) among average pre-post HD session values within and between alive/dead and male/female groups. The PhA shows a linear correlation to dialytical age (r=0.33, p<0.07) and to the albumin (r=0.48, p< 0.003). The PhA over the square of Body Mass Index correlates nutritional parameters; the Reactance (Xc) fit body weight (r=0.6, p< 0.0048). Covariates estimation shows PhA as the strongest time dependent predictor (cut-off level 3.4 degree for male, p< 0.0008 and 3 degree for female, p< 0.001) and is ‘di per se’ useful to monitor the nutritional status.Table 1" @default.
