- W2007311904 abstract "ABSTRACT Dispersive objects result in a loss of resolution in time-domain optical coherence tomography (TD-OCT). A typical technique to compensate for this effect is to introduce dispersive material in the reference arm. This method however is not very effective, as the dispersion effect of the object is depth dependent. We implement a dispersion compensation algorithm in the Wigner domain for TD-OCT. This shift-variant numerical compensation approach is more efficient than the previously reported shift-invariant methods which required a deconvolution operation for every depth. INTRODUCTION Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is beginning to establish itself as an imaging technique for a wide variety of biological, medical and material investigations [1-3]. OCT uses white light interferometery to detect the back-scattered light sele ctively from beneath the surface of an object. It has one to two orders of magnitude higher spatial resolution than ultrasound and the usage of light could allow for spectroscopic characterization of tissue and cellular structures." @default.
