- W2007332291 abstract "In nuclei of regenerating rat hepatocytes 24 hr after partial hepatectomy, a marked increase of an electron-dense loosened material, known as decondensed chromatin, was observed in specimens stained with uranium and lead. The Bernhard regressive EDTA staining method has shown that this material is mainly composed of perichromatin fibrils. The Gautier osmium—ammine staining for DNA demonstrated that, at this time of regeneration, the DNA containing structures were quite unraveled in thin fibers which contributed, but in a small quantity, to the formation of the electron-dense material. α-Amanitin induced a marked condensation of the loosened material: the quantity of perichromatin fibrils was strongly reduced, whereas the DNA containing structures were condensed in compact masses. Perichromatin fibrils were detected only in areas where the DNA containing structures assumed the unraveled form. A close relationship between the quantity of perichromatin fibrils and the quantity of thin DNA fibers was finally observed." @default.
