Information about ion-pairing can be obtained by investigating the relative chemical shift Δδ = δCH2(1) - δCH3 of the cationic protons as a function of concentration, temperature, and anion. In organic solvents cation-anion association is evident from our experimental data. The corresponding equilibrium constants could be determined for several TAA salts in acetonitrile solution. In aqueous solution the association behaviour is a more complex one. It seems that at low and medium concentrations cation-cation interactions are dominant, whereas in concentrated solutions multiple ion aggregates involving anions are formed. Das Verhalten der Alkylprotonenresonanzen von symmetrischen Tetraalkylammoniumionen in wäßrigen und nichtwäßrigen Salzlösungen wird untersucht. Messungen der relativen chemischen Verschiebung Δδ = δCH2(1) - δCH3 der kationischen Protonen in Abhängigkeit von Konzentration, Temperatur und Anion liefern Aussagen über Ionenpaarbildungen. In organischen Lösungsmitteln zeigen unsere Ergebnisse die Existenz von Kation-Anion-Paaren. Die entsprechenden Assoziationskonstanten wurden für einige TAA-Salze in Acetonitril-Lösung bestimmt. In wäßriger Lösung liegt ein komplizierteres Assoziationsverhalten vor. Offenbar treten bei niedrigen und mittleren Konzentrationen vorwiegend Kation-Kation-Wechselwirkungen auf, während in konzentrierten Lösungen größere Ionenaggregate unter Beteiligung von Anionen gebildet werden." @default.
