Phloracetophenone-4-β-D-glucoside tetraacetate (1a) reacts with methanolic ammonia to give a dimeric associate C28H39NO18ṁ2H2O (3). The structure is discussed on the basis of i. r. spectra, elementary analysis and paper chromatography. Under mild conditions 3 reacts with various aromatic aldehydes to the title compounds 4–9. These catalytic effects of some amino acids are determined (table 1). The influence of substituents for the formation of the flavanones has been studied." @default.
