- W2007690960 abstract "“WOW” is the first response by scientists when they learn that digital video files will be published as peer-reviewed, primary figures embedded in papers published in The Anatomical Record. “WOW” again, from the same excited scientists, when they learn that digital videos will be permanently stored and accessible. As such, AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES are a publication innovation “first” for any anatomical-based, peer-reviewed journal. AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES provide scientists who capture primary data as digital video files a venue for peer-reviewed publication that permanently embeds the digital video files as primary figures. Digital video files as the permanent figures of primary results provide richer detail than tables and graphs that are traditionally used to summarize data contained in digital video files. Access to the published digital video figures is via embedded hotlinks in the electronic publication (e-pub). Currently, digital video files are either relegated to online supplemental data files or a laboratory's home web page. Limitations of online supplemental data files include uncertainty whether the files will be viewed and temporary hosting time. Limitation of hosting digital video files on a laboratory's home web page is the files do not count as peer-reviewed publications. A value-added bonus is that AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES are also published in traditional print issues of The Anatomical Record. E-Pub date and PMID are assigned to AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES, once they are accepted for publication. The final version of accepted AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES will be submitted by the Publisher to PubMed Central. AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES include, but are not limited to, clinical motion detection, motion detection in developmental biology, neuroscience, physiology, cell biology, molecular biology, radiology, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, arthroscopy, and urology, surgical approaches, engineering models and their performance, and animations for robotics, comparative vertebrate morphology, paleobiology, virtual reality, and computational biology. Each AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLE may have up to 2 min of video clips. The 2-min limit may be used for one digital video file or for multiple digital video files (up to 4 is preferred). Digital video file types (Codec) optimized for fast transmission speed and minimal storage space (size), without compromising resolution. Optimized digital video file types should be prepared and submitted as one of the following types of video files (1) MOV 922 × 492 (720p), (2) MOV 630 × 342 (480p), (3) M4V (H.264) 922 × 492 (Broadband), (4) M4V (H.264) 480 × 256 (Wi-Fi), or (5) M4V (H.264) 400 × 214 (Cellular). At this time, audio is not available. Descriptions of the video results are provided in figure legends. The editorial office will work with authors who submit AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES to optimize their digital video files. We invite you to revolutionize presentation of your digital video files through peer-reviewed, permanent AR WOW – VIDEO ARTICLES. Kurt H.
