- W2007887617 abstract "The axisymmetric penetration/perforation of rigidly clamped circular metallic plates by fast moving AD-85 ceramic cylindrical rods has been studied. The ceramic is modeled as an elastic–plastic material with pressure cut-off and the target material is modeled as linearly strain-hardening elastic–plastic material with a material point failing when the effective plastic strain there attains a prescribed value; failed elements are removed from the analysis. For low impact speeds, the ceramic rod fails causing a shallow crater in the metallic target. However, at impact speeds in the range of 1 to 5 km/s, the partially destroyed ceramic rods perforate through the metallic targets. The effect of material parameters of the metallic plates on the efficiency of penetration has been studied." @default.
