- W2008213325 abstract "Despite the unequivocal evidence linking smoking and disease, approximately 26% of all Americans still smoke. In this article we briefly review the behavioral and the biologic factors associated with continued smoking as well as the latest strategies, both behavioral and pharmacologic, for the treatment of smoking. These behavioral and biologic factors are then applied to the problem of weight gain following smoking cessation where few, if any, effective treatments have been developed. We conclude that future research should carefully consider combining both behavioral and pharmacologic procedures for the treatment of those who are at risk for relapse due to excessive postcessation weight gain." @default.
