- W2008457903 abstract "According to photoelectrochemical studies with transition metal layer chalcogenides the onset potential of photocurrent differs from the dark flatband potential by several hundred millivolts for most n-type electrodes. Measurements of the space charge capacity have shown that the flatband potential is shifted upon hole creation by illumination and approaches the onset potential of photocurrent at higher intensities. Investigations of fast photocurrent transients indicate that holes are accumulated in surface states causing a downwards shift of energy bands at the surface. The trapping and various charge transfer processes were studied with electrolytes containing different donor and acceptor molecules. In addition a rather slow photocurrent transient was found after negative prepolarization. This effect was interpreted as photo deintercalation of hydrogen incorporated in the layer lattice at negative potentials." @default.
