- W2008516306 abstract "High temperature 87Rb and 13C NMR and magnetic susceptibility (χ∥) measurements have been performed on first stage Rb intercalated HOPG samples. Two phase transitions have been observed. A small one at 480 K is attributed to change in the stacking sequence of the alkali from αβγδ to αβ stacking. The main one, which is first order with hysteresis at 565–585 K as observed by the abrupt change in χ∥ values, gives rise to a large change in both the 87Rb and the 13C Knight shift. Neither the quadrupolar coupling constant experienced by 87Rb nuclei −e2qQ/h = 22.2 ± 0.4 MHz − nor the signal intensity vary at this transition. This demonstrates that the high temperature phase is of the lattice gas type with at least 85% of the Rb atoms in prismatic sites." @default.
