- W2008776731 abstract "Abstract 1. 1. The presence of iso citrate lyase and of malate synthase has been demonstrated in adult Fasciola hepatica . All enzymes of the glyoxylate cycle are therefore present, as those enzymes common with the tricarboxylic acid cycle have been previously demonstrated in this organism. 2. 2. Fructose-1,6-diphosphatase is present in the adult fluke and as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase and the necessary glycolytic enzymes are also present, the complete complement of enzymes required for hexose phosphate formation from dicarboxylic acids is available in F. hepatica . 3. 3. As is the case with the mammalian fructose-1,6-diphosphatase, the fluke enzyme with maximal activity at pH 9 requires the presence of Mg 2+ and EDTA for optimal activity and AMP inhibits this activity. 4. 4. C 14 -2,3-succinate is incorporated into glycogen. The possible significance of such glyconeogenic activity, and of the glyoxylate cycle in F. hepatica are discussed." @default.
