- W2008807027 abstract "The direct-conversion FPD has made it possible to confirm the localization and configuration of 192-Ir radioactive source due to its wide dynamic range and high spatial resolution, and absence of image halation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of FPD for positioning and dwell time of a 192-Ir source, and its feasibility as a QA tool for the 192-Ir source. We evaluated source positioning and dwell time as follows: 1) Weekly verification of source positional accuracy for three source dwell points (1300/1400/1500 mm). 2) Measurement of source movement distance with varying interval steps (2.5/5.0/10.0 mm) of eleven dwell points using high speed image acquisition (30 frames per second, i.e., temporal resolution of 0.03 second) with direct amorphous Selenium FPD system. 3) Source temporal accuracy was evaluated by number of acquired imaging frames using digital subtraction function, with source dwell time varying from 0.1 to 20.0 seconds, and these were compared with theoretical dwell time. All verifications were performed as taking images of the 192-Ir source (370 GBq) in the check ruler by FPD. 1) An average and standard deviation of positional accuracy for three dwell points were 1299.93 ± 0.19, 1399.90 ± 0.28 and 1499.71 ± 0.36 mm, respectively, with image resolution of 0.04 mm/pixel. 2) Source movement distance were 2.49 ± 0.04, 4.96 ± 0.04 and 9.96 ± 0.05 mm, respectively. 3) For source temporal accuracy, the FPD could measure with the minimum dwell time of 0.5 seconds. Correlation between measured time and theoretical dwell time showed good linearity (r2 > 0.99). In addition, duration of source movement could be counted simultaneously by summing up numbers of image frames. All errors of source positioning (less than ± 1mm) and dwell time (less than ± 2%) attained the accuracy criteria recommended by AAPM guideline. All positioning and temporal data of a 192-Ir source were obtained quantitatively with visual confirmation. The direct-conversion FPD, filmless and simple to operate compared to the conventional film method, is feasible as a 192-Ir source positioning and temporal QA tool." @default.
