The migration of dense particles away from the rotational axis and light particles towards the axis has been observed in many cases. A method for determining the temperatures of formation of the globules is presented which depends on the comparison between the prediction of simple models, and the observed position of the particles within a globule. The globules examined show initial formation temperatures in the range 1800–2000 K. The study strongly supports the hypothesis that most lunar globules result from meteorite impact." @default.
