- W2008909635 abstract "The kinetics of sodium-dependent L-(U-14C)alanine influx into the integument of Glycera dibranchiata were studied in vitro utilizing lucite influx chambers. Glycera integument accumulated alanine via two distinct sodiumcoupled carrier mediated systems which are described by similar kinetic equations. The coupling coefficient determined by graphical analysis was equal to 3 for each influx system. Both systems share a common Kt = 8.6 × 10−5 M alanine which was not affected by sodium concentration. However, each system possessed dissimilar maximal influx values that were sensitive to sodium concentration. A model is presented describing the molecular events of sodium-coupled alanine transport by the integumentary epithelial cell membrane of Glycera." @default.
