- W2009052803 abstract "The optical absorption of Dy(OH)3 has been studied between 12000 and 24000 cm-1 at temperatures between 1.3 and 77K in fields up to 4 T. The spectra measured at 77K were fitted to a crystal-field Hamiltonian and the parameters B20=209.4, B40=-75.5, B60=-40.1, B66=541.8 cm-1 were found. At lower temperatures there was evidence that the crystal field changes slightly. This has a minor effect on the spectrum in general but is causes a significant change in the splitting between the two lowest Kramers' doublets, from 7.8 cm-1 at 77K to 16.4 cm-1 at 1.3K. The effect on the low-temperature Ising model approximation for Dy(OH)3 is discussed." @default.
