The contributions of platform and wall surfaces to the shape of the peak were evaluated by combining components made of polycrystalline electrographite, pyrolytic graphite and glassy carbon. In some cases it was possible to match the trailing portions of the plots using the analytical function proposed by Musil and Rubeska, and thus to assign values to the rate constants for redeposition and revaporisation. However, the model is not, in general, adequate. An extended model accounting for both temporal and axial temperature non-uniformity in the tube during atomisation has been developed and tested using simultaneously measured temperature and absorbance data.
