- W2009707938 abstract "1. Microchromatography on 3 × 3 cm polyamide layers of dansyl compounds was used to study the distribution of glycine and glutamic acid in the nervous systems of two fish species and some invertebrates. 2. High amounts of glycine (20·1–72·3 μmoles/g) are present in the nervous system of the echinoderms and arthropods. In contrast there is a low glycine content in the nervous systems of the molluscs, annelids and the two fish species (3·9–10·1 μmoles/g). 3. Low levels of glutamic acid are present in the nervous systems of echinoderms (1·5–2·4 μmoles/g), compared with the high gluatmic acid content in the central nervous systems of the arthropods and the two fish species (8·4–25·8 μmoles/g). The nervous systems of molluscs and annelids contain 3·6–6·0 μmoles/g glutamic acid. 4. The significance of these findings is discussed." @default.
