- W2009825197 abstract "We used high resolution quasi-elastic neutron scattering to investigate hydrogen diffusion in the intermetallic Laves phase hydride Ti1.2Mn1.8H3 at momentum transfers Q between 0.17 and 1.95 Å−1 in the temperature range 100–375 K. We resolved two components in the spectra at small Q and three components at large Q. On a microscopic scale the hydrogen dynamics in intermetallic hydrides is governed by the existence of energetically different interstitial sites and by blocking effects due to the high hydrogen concentration. We describe this behaviour in terms of three motional states where the hydrogen atoms (i) propagate over the energetically higher sites, (ii) are at rest in structural traps (iii) exhibit a rapid local motion." @default.
