These conclusions are not supported by data available to the authors at the time the editorial was written. The work of Godfrey-Faussett, Miller and Semple (Nebulized pentamidine [Letter].Lancet. 1988;1:645-6) cited by Armstrong and Bernard to support their editorial has been repeated with a different aerosol delivery system (2).
