- W2010348375 abstract "Optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) of myosin from white skeletal muscle of rabbit showed significant change between 230 and 250 nm after exposure to commonly used concentrations of the anesthetics halothane (2-bromo-2-chloro-1,1,1-trifluoroethane), chloroform and diethyl ether; at 23 °C (pH 7.0) the average [m′]233 increase was 8%. EDTA (K+-activated ATPase of myosin was depressed by each of the three anesthetics. Ca2+-activated ATPase was inhibited by chloroform. In contrast, low concentrations of halothane and all tested concentrations of diethyl ether had little effect on the Ca2+-activated ATPase; a 3-fold increase in concentration of halothane caused a 25% increase in the ATPase activity. The effects of commonly used clinical concentrations of the 3 drugs were reversible. No evidence was found that halothane, chloroform and diethyl ether were bound to ATP in aqueous solution." @default.
