- W2010478229 abstract "Abstract Twenty‐two spore plus delta‐endotoxin preparations from twenty different serotypes of Bacillus thuringiensis were tested for their activity as Manduca sexta larvicides by diet dilution bioassay. Sodium hydroxide extracts of each preparation were tested for their activity as inhibitors of net potassium transport by isolated M. sexta larval midgut. All preparations that inhibited potassium transport were larvicidal. Twelve of the thirteen active preparations caused 50 % inhibition of potassium transport at a lower concentration than was required to kill 50 % of the challenged larvae. Inhibition of active potassium transport by isolated lepidopteran midgut is a rapid method to measure the potency of the effect of B. thuringiensis delta‐endotoxin preparations on their target tissue. This in vitro assay also yields a qualitative prediction of the larvicidal activity of the delta‐endotoxin preparation. Zusammenfassung Zur Wirkung der Sporen‐Kristall‐Präparate von 20 Serotypen von Bacillus tburingiensis Berl. auf Manduca sexta‐Larven in vivo und in vitro Es wurden 22 Sporen‐delta‐Endotoxin‐Präparate von 20 verschiedenen Serotypen von Bacillus tburingiensis auf ihre Aktivität gegenüber Manduca sexta‐Larven bei Aufnahme mit der Nahrung untersucht. Natriumhydroxid‐Extrakte jedes Präparats wurden hinsichtlich ihrer Aktivität als Inhibitoren des Netto‐Kalium‐Transportes im isolierten larvalen Mitteldarm getestet. Alle Präparate, die den Kalium‐Transport hemmten, waren larvizid. Zwölf der 13 aktiven Präparate verursachten 50 % Hemmung des Kalium‐Transports bei einer geringeren Konzentration als sie zur Abtötung von 50 % der Larven nötig war. Die Hemmung des aktiven Kalium‐Transports im isolierten Mitteldarm von Lepidopteren bildet eine schnelle Methode, um die Wirkung von B. thuringiensis ‐delta‐Endotoxin‐Präparaten zu messen. Diese in vitro‐Prüfung ermöglicht eine qualitative Voraussage der larviziden Wirkung solcher Präparate." @default.
