- W2010609503 abstract "The β-γ(CP) correlation in the case of the 52V β-decay to the first excited level 52Cr has been measured in an attempt to settle the question as to whether the spin of 52V is 2 or 3. (The spin-sequences is: 2+or 3+ (β−, 2.47 MeV) 2+(γ, 1.434 MeV)0+). The asymmetry parameter is observed to be A = −0.302 ± 0.022. For the assumption of 3+ for the ground state of 52V the expected value of A is unique, −13. For the assumption of 2+ the value of A expected is not unique but depends on the size of the interference between the Fermi and Gamow-Teller matrix elements, which are both permitted in this case. However, the measured value of A corresponds to a value of the Fermi matrix element which, when translated into the Coulomb matrix element giving rise to the Fermi transition, is about an order of magnitude larger than systematic studies of this quantity in other nuclei would lead one to expect, being in fact larger than any known (experimentally deduced) value for a non-diagonal Coulomb matrix element. Accordingly, it is concluded that the spin of 52V cannot reasonably be assigned any value other than 3+." @default.
