- W2010753687 abstract "This article describes a mathematical model of an Indian Railway general sleeper ICF coach to explore how the vertical irregularities of the track cause both vertical and lateral vibrations in the rail vehicle. The characteristics of the train car also have an impact on the dynamic behavior of the rail-vehicle system. The model is a coupled vertical-lateral 37 degrees of freedom mathematical model that uses Lagrangian dynamics. In the analysis, the vertical and lateral irregularities of railway track are incorporated as a random function of time. The authors compare the simulated results to experimental data obtained through actual rail vehicle testing. The ride comfort is evaluated incorporating ISO 2631-1 standard. The authors conclude that results from their simulation correlate reasonably well with the actual tests. The comparison of the fully-loaded and partially-loaded conditions has shown that the ride comfort at full occupancy is better than that of partially loaded one. They also briefly recommend that future research be conducted to improve the simulation model to accurately represent the vehicle flexibility and use of the derived ride comfort responses to improve the vehicle design." @default.
