- W2010796402 abstract "Abstract In recent years the computer analysis of steel structures has made the sizing of numbers relatively easy, with the result that there has been a growing interest in the behaviour and performance of the connections between members. The introduction of a steel code written in terms of limit state philosophy has shown a need for improved design guidance for connections. Despite the long history of structural steelwork, there are still a number of issues which occupy the attention of researchers and codifiers in the United Kingdom. Several of these issues are discussed in detail, including the choice of bolt, the increasing use of punched holes, a realistic assessment of prying forces, the significance of lack of fit and the use of standard connections. Further comments are made with respect to end plate moment connections and the potential of semi-rigid connections, as well as composite construction." @default.
