- W2010944878 abstract "We have fabricated Sm1+xBa2−xCu3O6+δ (SmBCO) thin films by means of the pulsed laser deposition technique, using the stoichiometric and the Sm-rich SmBCO (x=0.08 and 0.12) composition laser targets. In this work, the influence of the Sm–Ba substitution on the film surface morphology in the SmBCO system was investigated using the atomic force microscopy. With the increase of the Sm–Ba substitution, it was found that the surface of SmBCO thin films was very smooth and highly stable in the air. It is observed that Sm-rich SmBCO thin films using laser targets of x=0.08 and 0.12 have a root mean-square surface roughness in a 2×2 μm2 area of about 2.1 and 1.7 nm, respectively. It was concluded that the Sm–Ba substitution influences the smoothness and the stability on the surface of the SmBCO thin films. We speculate that the surface morphology of the SmBCO thin films is influenced by the Sm–Ba substitution and the migration potential." @default.
