- W2011185752 abstract "Adsorbed states of H on Cu surfaces have been studied by measurements of the NMR line width and the Knight shift of the proton and 63Cu using fine Cu powder. The line width of the proton decreases with increase of temperature from 0.4 Gauss at 120 K to 0.06 Gauss at 300 K.This decrease is attributed to the surface migration of hydrogen adatoms, of which the activation energy is found to be 2.0±0.3 kcal/mol. The Knight shift of the proton is 0.0094±0.0005%. The relation between the electronic nature of adsorption bond and the proton Knight shift is discussed. It is concluded that 4s conduction electrons participate. in chemisorption of H on Cu surfaces. NMR results of 63Cu are the same as bulky copper." @default.
