- W2011590100 abstract "A second-quantized notation is used to derive sum rules for two-particle spectroscopic amplitudes. These generalize the result of Bayman and Clement to cover stripping and pickup on nuclei of any spin. They are analogous to the partial sum rules for one-nucleon transfer. Sum rules are also derived which relate sums of spectroscopic amplitudes to two-nucleon multipole moments. The assumptions which have to be made if the sum rules are to be applied to transfer data are discussed. Although mixing of a large number of configurations and multistep are required in the description of two-nucleon transfer, the sum rules can still be applied by treating these effects approximately. The multipole-moment sum rules are applied to data on three odd-mass nuclei. This tests some of the assumptions which have to be made. The good agreement with predictions gives further support for the applicability of the sum rules." @default.
