Report of Cases Case1.—A 13½-year-old boy, admitted to the Mayo Clinic in May 1965, had been in good health until 3½ years previously when he experienced the sudden onset of colicky pain in the left lower quadrant of the abdomen. No medical advice had been sought at that time. He was said to have had a urinary tract infection (on the basis of frequency) one year prior to admission; these symptoms had subsided after one week of treatment.
