- W2012251231 abstract "Present-day two-dimensional vocabulary in palynology needs to be analyzed and adjusted to three-dimensional concepts. In this paper it is demonstrated how basic concepts have been developed with the aid of models and other approaches. Fresh, living, whole spores were compared with the models, whole and sectioned, and prepared with the best possible techniques. The models demonstrated that many apparent wall arrangements can be derived from a single form, as a result of limited angles and focal levels. A total three-dimensional spore and tetrad structure includes two areas: protoplast and nutriole; as well as surface curves and angles from which markings and fine structure arise, typically at right angles. Lines must be followed through, shadows and other illusions recognized. Appearance of spore markings is dependent on linear perspective, angles and curves of the spore surface. Arrangements and outlines of ridges and projections can help to analyze the spore structure and their position on the whole spore and the type of surface from which they arise. Genetically controlled patterns form structural arrangements." @default.
