The first model is based on a modified Helmholtz equation and the images method. It shows that the strong depolarization effect between the atoms belonging to the same cluster causes the work function to depend markedly on the average cluster size (Nc) for 1 < Nc ≲ 6. The second method has been developed using Monte-Carlo Simulation Processes in order to understand the mechanisms of cluster growth and their dependence on coverage and temperature.
