Routine metabolism comprised from 69 to 94% of the total energy assimilated. 4. The standard dynamic effect accounted for 8–28% of the total energy assimilated. 5. Growth efficiency was determined to be −3.32 for the plant diet, 3.50 for the mixed diet and 1.75 for the animal diet. 6.
