- W2013435833 abstract "The effect of erythropoietin on the synthesis of different RNA species in cultures of disaggregated mouse embryonic liver cells was investigated. Erythropoietin increased incorporation of uridine into ribosomal precursor RNA, “heterogeneous nuclear RNA” and the RNA sedimenting at greater than 60 S. There was no evidence for the appearance of new species of RNA. 5-Fluorodeoxyuridine (FdUrd) inhibited the stimulation of haemoglobin synthesis but only partially inhibited the stimulation of RNA synthesis caused by erythropoietin. Inhibition of DNA synthesis by FdUrd was not so pronounced in these cultures as might have been expected. Autoradiographs showed that erythropoietin stimulated RNA synthesis in proerythroblasts and basophilic and polychromatic erythroblasts but that the inhibition of this stimulation by FdUrd was confined to basophilic and polychromatic erythroblasts." @default.
