- W2013527690 abstract "Abstract H+, D+, H+2 and HD+ ions, formed from H2 and HD molecules by electron impact, collided with Na, K and Cs vapors in the keV energy range. The negative ions formed by the two electron transfers have been analyzed with a single focusing mass spectrometer; H− and D− ions from H+ and D+ ions were detected as sharp peaks, whereas H− and D− ions from H+2 and HD+ ions were detected as broad peaks which mainly consisted of central peaks and very broad wings. The kinetic energy releases of the broad peaks obtained from the full width at half maximum of the mass spectral width are 8.2±0.4 eV for the broad wings and 0.22±0.07 eV for the central peaks. From the square dependence on the target density, the formation process of these negative ions is determined as successive two collision single electron transfer. The broad wings are explained as the predissociations from the excited H2 state (c3Πu) to the repulsive ground state (b3Σ+u), and the central peaks are the result of transitions from high Rydberg states to excited H atoms. For Na targets, the existence of a direct transition to the b3Σ+u state and/or the dissociations with fluorescence from the a3Σ+g state to the b3Σ+u state are suggested." @default.
