- W2013648575 abstract "Abstract THE country-wide interest in the promotion of certain important phases of the poultry industry has prompted the present study of teaching of incubation and its basic science - avian experimental embryology. The period of embryonic development is perhaps the most delicate and the most consequential in the life cycle of the bird. Insufficiently considered practices of artificial incubation, therefore, may reduce its economy and may be considerably harmful towards progressive improvements of the poultry industry, not only through losses of incubated eggs but through lowered vitality and increased susceptibility to diseases of the hatched birds. In spite of the vital economic importance of incubation to poultry production, neither the field of activity nor the subject-matter of teaching had been adequately outlined. Evidently the reasons for this are as follows: (1) the extremely rapid and relatively recent transition from natural to artificial methods of incubation; (2) the revelation of the complexity . . ." @default.
