- W2013766230 abstract "The physical and mechanical properties of highly-chlorinated polyethylene (HCPE, chlorine contents are more than 60%) modified with maleic anhydride (MA) and styrene (St) by mechanochemistry reaction were studied. The modification was performed in a two-roll mill. The results indicated that Vicat softening temperature of the modified HCPE achieved was 16–17°C more than the unmodified HCPEs. Meanwhile thermal stability and other mechanical properties are also enhanced. Crosslinking reactions will occur because of the presence of anhydride groups combined to HCPE. The degree of crosslinking of the material is limited due to the limitation in the quantity of anhydride used. Consequently, the material can still be melt processed and the solvent resistance of the material is also improved. Compared to the unmodified HCPE, HCPE modified with MA and St can be considered as a heat-resisting structure material." @default.
