- W2013800635 abstract "The effect of human and murine dialyzable leukocyte lysates (HDLL and MDLL) on the reticuloendothelial system was studied. The feasibility of using the inbred mouse as an animal model was investigated. Depending on the quantity of HDLL injected, there were changes in both the T- and B-dependent areas of murine spleens 24 hr postinjection. HDLL injection resulted in a significant decrease in the spleen weight of mice which was detectable 1 week postinjection. Differences in the response to PHA, ConA, and LPS by cells obtained from HDLL and MDLL recipients were also observed within 24 hr after injection of DLL. The changes in response to T- and B-cell mitogens in vitro varied with the concentration of DLL injected. The effects of individual HDLL pools on the response to the mitogens were unique. The HDLL pools were also shown to differ in composition, and this difference may reflect the variation in the effects observed among the individual HDLL pools. These data suggest that DLL may affect the organization and distribution of cells in at least one reticuloendothelial organ, the spleen. It is not known if the component(s) in DLL that caused these effects is related to the component capable of transferring delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) responses." @default.
