Changes in the absorbance spectra were not distinct enough to determine stoichiometry. The reaction with ozone caused a simple decrease in the maximum fluorescence of the compounds. The reaction is such that approximately 1 mole of ozone reacted with 1 mole of indole compound when the indole compound was 0.1 mm and the ozone flow rate was about 45 nmole/minute. As the concentration of indole was lowered less indole compound/mole ozone reacted. The reaction of ozone with tryptophan generated hydrogen peroxide. The MAO activity of mitrochondria from rat lung was resistant to the effects of ozone. Ozone did decrease the sulfhydryl content of the mitochondria prepared from rat lungs." @default.
