- W2013971511 abstract "A computer model will be presented which enables the calculation of interstitial temperature distributions during laserinduced thermotherapy. Prerequisite for the simulation is the knowledge of the individual optical and thermal tissue properties. To reach an acceptable duration for the simulation of long laser treatments a simplified spherical geometry was chosen since it fits best to the radiation field of diffusing applicators. Comparison of the calculated temperature behavior with experimental data shows good agreement. A new applicator design with internal cooling will be presented, which enables the coagulation of larger volumes at lower contact temperatures." @default.
