- W2013989327 abstract "Abstract The Born model of ionic solids is shown to account for the observed values of the work involved in the pressure transition of the potassium and rubidium halides from the NaCl to the CsCl structure, and for the heat absorbed in the thermal transition of cesium chloride from the CsCl to the NaCl structure, when the repulsive parameters are allowed to depend on the crystal structure. This is achieved by adopting a repulsive energy form with two parameters and by determining these parameters separately for the NaCl phase and for the CsCl phase of each compound form the observed values of the lattice parameter and of the compressibility of the two phases at the transition point.
