- W2014048418 abstract "This paper introduces budget share demographic translation in the Almost Ideal Demand System (AIDS) and explores its implications for aggregation over consuming units. It os shown that, under certain conditions, the joint distribution of expenditure and demographic characteristics plays an explicit role in the aggregate AIDS. Empirical evidence, based on Italian data, is provided and the implied expenditure pattern for a number of combinations of expenditures and household characteristics derived from the estimated aggregate AIDS. The empirical results suggest that the usual rejection of the homogeneity restriction in aggregate demand systems might have to do with the improper treatment of the aggregation issue." @default.
