- W2014190799 abstract "Abstract Heat treated aluminum hydroxide yields an agglomerated α-Al 2 O 3 powder consisting of partially sintered grains which were composed of nanometric grains about 20 nm in size. Doping with chromia throughout chromium nitrate hydrate, uniaxial compressed and sintering have revealed a unique microstructure composed of nanoscale structure having subgrains in the 80 to 100 nm range within the grains of both doped and undoped samples. Distinct inhibition of grain growth was observed as a result of the presence of the dopant. Microhardness values of doped specimens were found to increase with increasing of the chromia content. Further work is needed in order to elucidate the relative contribution of the dopant, the grain size, and the nanoscale structure within these grains to the inhibition of grain growth and to the increase in the hardness. © 1997 Acta Metallurgica Inc." @default.
