- W2014206964 abstract "Summary A range of biochemical characteristics of Staphylococcus pyogenes has been studied, using strains from each of the phage groups I, II and III and strains of phage type 84/85, in order to see what variations occurred between groups, with particular interest in type 84/85. All strains examined gave positive reactions to the qualitative tests for the production of coagulase, phosphatase, lipase and deoxyribonuclease. Differences between groups were observed with the egg-yolk reaction, fibrinolysin, hyaluronidase, antigen-antibody line production, α-haemolysin titre and haemolysin pattern. The experimental results suggest that type 84/85 is less likely to invade healthy skin than other strains, but once introduced through a lesion, could spread rapidly and would be hard to eradicate due to resistance to commonly used antibiotics." @default.
