- W2014214835 abstract "The columnar defects produced by 250-MeV Ag ions significantly affect the magnetotransport properties of ${mathrm{Bi}}_{2}$${mathrm{Sr}}_{2}$${mathrm{CaCu}}_{2}$${mathrm{O}}_{8+mathrm{y}}$ single crystals. The generally observed long tail in the magnetoresistance curve is drastically reduced and magnetic phase diagram is modified in an irradiated BSCCO crystal displaying the suppression of thermal fluctuations and enhanced interlayer coupling. This is reflected in the ac susceptibility of an irradiated BSCCO crystal. Though the magnetoconductivity and magnetization show reduction of thermal fluctuations near ${mathrm{T}}_{mathrm{c}}$ for a low dose of irradiation, they can still be well explained using two-dimensional scaling in fluctuations. The magnetization studies show the optimum fluence level for the disappearance of the ``crossing point'' near ${mathrm{T}}_{mathrm{c}}$. The columnar defects do not have any drastic influence on fluctuation phenomena near ${mathrm{T}}_{mathrm{c}}$ for a high dose while effects are prominent for lower doses." @default.
