- W2014215300 abstract "This study explored students' perceptions of learning experiences in an online and a face-to-face section of the same university course. Both sections of the course were taught by the same instructor during the same semester of study. Qualitative data was collected from 60 participating students, as well as the instructor. This data included interviews and journal entries consisting of students' perceptions of their learning experiences. Instructor's perceptions corroborated student journal and interview data. The three themes that emerged from the data collected and analysed from the study include: (1) the importance of peer interaction and co-operative learning environments; (2) the difficulties and benefits of Web-based instruction; and (3) the importance of the affective domain in the learning process.
